From Animated Shorts to Tinta Bruta: 14 Talents from Brazil at Berlinale Talents
Berlinale Talents has just announced the selection of 250 filmmakers – 141 women and 109 men – from 77 countries for the 17th edition of Berlinale Talents.
14 of the chosen filmmakers are working and living in Brazil, among them the animation director Alois Di Leo, whose Caminho dos Gigantes was favorite of the international festival scene; Ana Alice De Morais, who, among others, produced Esse Amor Que Nos Consome, and the documentary director Ricardo Martensen (Cine Sao Paulo).
Moreover, two Brazilian Talents contributed to the success of last year’s Teddy Award winner Tinta Bruta: the distributor Talita Arruda and the Production Designer and Art Director Manuela Falcão, whose credits also include Beira-Mar and O Ninho. Moreover, the two Brazil-born Talents live and work abroad: Producer Clarissa Guarilha and Renato Galamba, the Sales Agent behind Bixa Travesty and Cinema Novo and many more.
Together the 250 Talents will participate in an intense six-day programme featuring around 100 events with internationally renowned experts and acclaimed Berlinale guests holding workshops and talks, many of which are open to the public. Berlinale Talents takes place at the HAU Hebbel am Ufer, February 9-14, 2019. The complete Berlinale Talents programme will be online on January 29, 2019.
